November - trip to Saudi Arabia with Chris Pollard

It rains at some point during every 24 hours. So I'm off to Saudi Arabia with Chris where it is up to 30 degrees.

Arrived in good time in Riyadh where the taxi to the hotel cost £32 for miles and miles of motorway.
Have nice big double room but can't work the coffee machine. Left my hairbrush at home and having a salad.
Spot the errors

Saturday we walked along a nearby road to find a ferule for my walking pole. Was a very scruffy street reminiscent of some African ones, we gave up and took a green taxi back for a couple of quid.
Lunch in a Lebanese then a long bus drive transferred to Land Cruiser to see the Edge of the World. Long drive through Riyadh.
Sandstone escarpment overlooking a vast plain. Ancient river channels cross this.
Then returned to a dinner in a fake village restaurant.
Well now for some news.
We left for a heritage site, old buildings which have become a tourist site.
Then this happened.

Chris fell and hurt her wrist so we spent the rest of the day in first a first aid clinic then the Dr Suleiman al Habib hospital.
As it is a private hospital she was asked for money at each stage. First to register then for the X-ray then the orthopaedic surgeon came and confirmed a tricky fracture and as she needed to go home put it in a plaster. We had to have a couple of laughs too to balance the shock and seriousness of the situation.
So she managed to get a direct flight home at 1 tonight.
I shall take extra care not to slip or fall
The plan is to grow Riyadh from 7 Million to 20.
It is already a climate change activist's nightmare.
