July - riverbank work and Waterperry

The planned shoring up of the river bank is about to start. The stream is almost choked now with plants though the wildlife enjoy it and despite Miffy having caught a vole there are more around.

Have found a couple of new cafes - one in Poulton and one on the way to Lechlade. Also booked a book art course there. So if I keep active - well I should say start being active - and cut down on sugar then I should be OK for a while yet though joints rather painful at times. No plans except for Saudi Arabia which is not until November but companies always want the money up front in fact more and more services are like that from hairdressers to carpet cleaners - since Covid it seems.
The men have arrived to do the riverbank work.
Removed a lot of weed, old plastic, mud and stones.

They have managed to keep the purple loosestrife and a few other plants. Not sure what the water voles think of this. But all going well at the moment.
Butterflies seen today but tricky to phot in the wind. Small copper, small tortoiseshell, small skipper.

Diana and I went to Contemporary Ceramics at Waterperry in the torrential rain which seemed to put a damper on buyers actually buying though not on attendance. I got a couple of pieces from new potters, then bought a little penguin for Heath which I lost during lunch I think - it disappeared promptly - the potter kindly gave me another - but not impressed if the original one was not handed in - it was all packed in a bag with the potters card so should not be taken - I don't like to think that someone basically stole it.
PS - it was returned to the potter who was therefore not out of pocket and my faith in humanity was returned.
Then visited Ellan who has a stick and frame and rather bowed and bored.
Carol is over for a few days having delivered Emma to a friend in Belgium.
20th - Hair cut much to Helen's approval but not the boys.
Our peaches had rotten stones.
The garden is nearly done but most exciting is the Ashes which started this week on a Wednesday - not sure why? By Friday evening England were 160 ahead after their fist innings and the Aussies were 4 wickets down. Tomorrow is predicted to be a Rain stops play day so all eyes are on Sunday's forecast.
