March — spring should be on its way

Looking back at old blogs I didn't use this as a diary when at home really only for trips which is actually the title. This year really the most exciting or interesting thing has been following Helen and Rob's Instagram of their travels through South America. Starting in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Columbia and a bit of Brazil. They finish up in Ecuador and the Galapagos. Suddenly it will nearly be over and they will be back. What an incredible experience and certainly those countries look a lot more thrilling than Europe or certainly the old colonies.

Today 9th I'm going to the spa at the Kings Head in Cirencester with snow falling.

Yes I know it is at an angle but that is fine. In Cirencester car park.

Painting spring flowers at Janet.

Going through my blog from 2014 - 2017 I realise how truth is indeed a casualty of memory — some of the places I remember quite differently and who would know if what I said was the truth and was it anyway?
Odd bits of news.
The Spanish want to farm octopus. The budget did not help the self employed or increase any tax thresholds mainly about childcare from next year. The battle for Bahkmut continues, the Russians clipped the propellor of a US drone over the Black Sea. I watched a film about the sinking by the French of Rainbow Warrior. I will host the Fairfield summer party in June.
More pots from the course trying out more slips and glazes and clays.
Went to the Weston Library, part of the Bodleian to get a new readers ticket. I worked there in the stack in 1967. The main storage is now in a purpose built place in Swindon.

Oxford has brought in a Low Emission Zone. Unfortunately the map on the Council website is what they intend to do. Not knowing this I had gone from Museum Road down New Inn Hall Street, over Magdalen Bridge then up Harcourt Hill to have lunch with Sheila. according to this map I had been in the LEZ so not wanting to pay a hefty fine of £60 I quickly paid £10 only to be told later that this map is not yet in use, despite it being on their website, and that the current map only really covers the very centre from St Giles into town. After paying £12 for parking it was an expensive outing and no chance of getting my £10 back - there doesn't seem to be a mechanism for that...yet.
At tai chi I can now balance on one leg- that must be an improvement on not being able to.
Rain almost every day with the river a torrent but no fish so far - too polluted? Have pretty much completed a picture for Tom - a composite of the TQH.
Had lunch at Burford garden centre and mulled over the fact that the place was full. Cost of living crisis? You would not know. Of course older peopl don't need to spend money on clothes or house hold goods. So going out for a lunch seems reasonable. But a fishcake and some veg for £18 is not cheap.
The wholesale price of diesel is now the same as petrol yet it is up to 17p more per litre. That is a scandal as it not only affects everyone with a truck and many with vans but feeds through to consumers as all the lorries use diesel.
Dropped off three bags of clothes etc for Oxfam and had the car valletted. Transferred Darcey's money to child trust fund which was replaced by ISAs. She should get a nice chunk at 18.
Had lunch at Blake's in Canfield after making brownies for tomorrow then wandered over the road to see this.
