Starts with picking apples and pears, though not many and certainly not enough for making apple juice, getting flu and covid jabs and watching more TV, specifically Traitors which is quite addictive.
Having some fun making greens and oranges and purples.
Have at last got a date for hernia op, so lets hope it all goes smoothly. Will stay with Lisa at first, downstairs bed and showerroom.
Naomi took me to Cotswold airport for brunch for us only to find kitchen staff away.
But interesting place.
Old air traffic tower being renovated, old planes lying about. The big BA one used for parties and you can come for Spitfire experiences. It was an overcast damp day.
Last night woken at 3.15 to a rave. So after phoning police drove around to find farm where it was taking place. When I phoned again was told they were attempting dispersal. Obviously not successful as music and microphones still going at daybreak. We heard later that there was a large police presence and arrests were made. Will watch local news.
Heath and I made about 8 pounds of chutney, stored away to mature.
At the apple day in Quenington there were few apples to press. At the adjacent craft fair I noticed this.
Had another thought about the brain and perception after a chat with Darcey about the amount of land in Britain that is built on.
When we see a line of houses each with a small front garden and a larger back somehow the impression is that the area is very built up yet the actual footprint of the houses is smaller than the land around it.
A similar thing happens when in the car another is coming towards you, you quickly gauge its width and either pull over or pass yet when a high lorry faces you you automatically pull over despite it being not much wider than a car. It is just much higher. We think and see it as much wider because it is higher. Strange?
Regarding built over Britain, it's actually less than 10%.
20th just to mention rain, rain, rain. Hopefully enough to replenish reservoirs and rivers which have almost dried up in places.
