16th to 18th Milan

Left home at 4.30 to pick up Chris then easy drive to Cophall Parking from where we were taken by bus to the terminal.
Left a bit late on Wizz Air but the pilot made up the time.
I sat next to the bass guitarist of the Ben Poole band.
We had booked to go to the wrong airport so the taxi was E114.
The lift shift and staircase in our accommodation.
A nice courtyard we walked past.

It is 33 degrees. We walked to the Gallerie Arte Moderne only to find the modern art section closed.
A green wall.
We had drinks across the road but look what came with them.

Next door was a lovely restaurant full of people talking Italian. We had struck lucky as again we were treated with surprises.
Now with the air con on will fall asleep soon.
Donna sent this from the bookclub night saying how perfect it all was. The new furniture helped a lot.
Big walking day, to the Leonardo museum with replica models of his inventions.
This huge arcade with marble floors and painted ceilings called Galleria Victor Emannuele II.
Then off to the Duomo.
And on to the roof where you can see I was uncomfortable looking up.
We got the lift up but you have to ask especially if you want to get the lift down which we did.
Have seen very very few older people so have been treated well.
Another nice entrance.
Supper at the opera restaurant.
Wonderful Norma opera with two British Freddie Di Tomaso and Jessica Pratt.
Just magical in sumptuous surroundings.
What was it like asked Judy. Amazing. The soprano high notes were clear and glorious.
Incredible set which was huge and revolved. There are really only three main parts so a tenor and two sopranos singing duets.
And a huge chorus mainly men which was stirring.
Talking about men the men walking in the street wear suits. Lovely white and cream suits and even saw a beautiful pale pink one. These are young men which was quite striking, none of Tomz generation are ever seen in a suit expect maybe a wedding or funeral. And that is a maybe. An elegant city with finely dressed people.
Not really a tourist city like Rome.
We took tram 9 south then got off near the canals.
Cost E2 a trip and go as far along the route as you like.
The staircase again and z look into the stairs to the basement.
A homeless bed no breakfast.
Pax popularum sentia
Peace and freedom arch.
Church of St Gottard.
The street we chose at random.
All these lovely cool alleys.
We sneaked in then couldn't get out of the locked gate. Fortunately there was a hairdresser which had two doors so we walked through back out to the street.

St Gottard church on St Gottard street.
Then back on the tram .
lunch near our Dream Suite at 13 viale Piave.
Took the train up to the airport a long way but much cheaper than the £100 taxi.
