16th Jasper

There is one more time change after Jasper tomorrow. Not sure what is happening on the island yet.
4 days of inaction have not done my legs any good - serious attention needs to be paid on getting home.
Getting in to Jasper 2 hours late but assured that we will be on time in V. Will know tonight where we will be at Kamloops.
The black on the mountains here are trees.
Watched a little red squirrel while we were stopped. The train has always time give way to thd numerous freight trains also as each one is so long consideration has to be given to drivers wanting to cross and having to wait for these very long trains to pass. A freight one would be a mile long with an engine front middle and back.
This picture shows what comes from changing materials and the problems with recycling.
First the old concrete sleepers have to be moved involving large machinery and freight trains.
Then the metal within them has to be removed a magnet during crushing, the metal has to be melted down while the crushed concrete may be used under roads, etc. Very expensive and not at all financially viable.
Meanwhile the toxic creosote wooden ones are yet another problem.
At Henry House.
Switches are off when down and taps turn the other way round.
This is to show the shallow topsoil these trees are growing in.
And the electric charging points in Jasper but NO cars.
Jasper where we had 45 minutes.
Now a lot of Rocky Mountain pics though I'm fascinated by the frozen lakes. Here you can see the different colours with differential thawing.
yet another freight train.

through the pass
Pyramid Falls at about milestone 113.
Down off the hills and thus little place and in the foreground I can see buds on the little spindly tree.
And green grass in the late afternoon sun.

Thompson River near Clear Water.
