30th April

Up in London for the VC GC Reunion.  Missed the train due to taking nearly 1.5 hours to get to the station. Then took the 453 bus down to Trafalgar Square. In the National Gallery there are hundreds of kids and more hundreds of visitors. Once again it is so marvellous that we have this stunning art collection free to view for all. Every other country charges and some of their national collections aren't up to much. Does this look a bit like mine? We saw Rousseaus tiger in Washington years ago. And this lovely Van Gogh I had never seen before anywhere. The noise level is intense. So then went to the portrait gallery which is quiet and has some great pics of well known people some painted some photos. Met a number of GC families think two will come and give a talk. Also a police son who can perhaps help with the stolen medal.

Monday

Windows cleaned, carpets cleaned, lawn mowed, started hanging pictures and tidied out toolbox and arranged for worktop to be repaired. Had a wasp sting when it got caught in my hair and it was hot enough for suncream 22°. Rehanging pictures is tricky. There are so many I really need to get them all out and that is too much so we started on the cloakroom chosen by kids who said green should be dominant to match the sink. Then I changed my mind took a picture walked around until I found the right spot then added to it with what felt right so managed to do one wall i n the hall. Feelie had fun with my camera. Will also see if we can get photos off old phone.

Sunny Sunday

First cricket match of the season. Oti as Captain with Feelie and Heath scoring. Final score something like 132 to 13 with Fairford being the 13.

23/24 home

Having lots of trouble with the mobile phones. After much Web searching I eventually managed to get the new phone loaded with apps and on to WiFi calling and then got my Covid jab, did the shopping and then received the good news that an arrest had been made about the medal and police found the original report that it was stolen. Great news as it corroborates me. Oti lined up all 28 different size balls. Having fun with the camera. My oneplus is for recycling as too expensive to repair, both the front and the back are cracked.

22nd Heading home

Where the dates are not consecutive I'll fix that at home on a big screen. Have managed to contact taxi company so all  OK. Be pleased to have good plumbing which is unpredictable in not only holiday accommodation. Strange. I wouldn't come back to Canada but glad I have seen so  many different sides, been very welcomed and looked after often by strangers though through others.  My hosts in Nova Scotia were wonderful and I'll have long-lasting memories of my time there,  then coming over to the west coast Jim and Ann and Kate treated me to their houses in idyllic surroundings.  I even managed to keep up with my French lessons. Once I get into flight mode I just go along with it all. The one thing I didn't get is enough exercise. Apart from walking in Montreal and Toronto a lot of time was sedentary except of course some massive walks in airport terminals Flew over in a tiny 20 seater. Now I looked at the UK weather and it seems I have miss...

21st back down south

Dawn has broken with no wind. The Pope died this morning after an Easter appearance yesterday. Down on the beach no wind and not cold. An enormous tree uprooted and dumped.

20th

The electric car is outside my window and a green light has been flashing all night not sure what that means. Jim writes down the number of k available after each trip  It has a range of over 400km so we got here with about 130 spare. Quite scary sitting in the front as his hands still shake a lot, he wears wellies and often drives with one hand! But as he wants some conversation for a while I agree. Last night Anne and I sang lots of old Irish songs, she was a fine musician and somehow can remember the tunes and some words. She wanted to help with some drying up after I had cooked a healthy meal and was then so pleased to be able to learn where to put the cutlery. It is indeed a cruel disease. There is a lot of sugar and chocolate eaten by them both I imagine that Jim had never cooked much before certainly not from scratch. It's a hard road ahead. A lovely house like this up here now is worth millions specially on the beach but it does have to be constantly maintained, etc. The ti...

19th Otis birthday Carol's 51st wedding anniversary

Happy birthday Oti and Ca well done and have a great celebration seems I missed your 50th as it's your 51st. Had a nice hot shower in a proper walk in instead of over a bath so could stand upright and wash hair without worrying about slipping.  Very quiet so dressed in summer clothes think I'll take a stroll on the beach. Got so cold then had to add some layers. Looking back at the house. Wonderful tracks in the sand, all that overnight activity. With his hurling stick. And a ball to add to the different size balls collection at home. A salmon hatchery where they then return the fish to the rivers from which the eggs came to restock. Check out the bear warning. The tsunami alarm system. You have 17 hours if it is Japan but less if an earthquake nearby.
